Programs

At Lansing's ATA Martial Arts our carefully structured programs are designed to teach anyone a positive "I Can" attitude. We strive to bring out the best in our students. We provide highly skilled, motivated instructors who are nationally certified and graduates of a three year intensive instructor program.

Who joins ATA? Adults and children starting as young as 4 years of age. People who like to do new and exciting things. People who need to fine-tune their confidence or need to develop it. People who want to do their best. People who deserve more from sports than just riding the bench. People who want to have fun.

Tiny Tigers

Your child can increase their respect level, ability to focus, and improve gross and fine motor skills, while training with others their own size and age in a safe, fun environment. While having fun, they learn basic life skills appropriate for their age including:

Confidence
Respect
Discipline
Courtesy
Self-control
Focus
Sharing
Integrity

We have developed a system of rewards to reinforce good behavioral traits in young children. The Tiny Tigers are regularly recognized and rewarded for good behavior at home, school and in class.

Kids

Our Kids system consists of physical skill and life skill development. These life skills are the building blocks of our system. Here is just a partial list of these life skills:

* Confidence
* Better Grades
* Respect
* Discipline
* Persistence
* Self-control
* Self-Esteem
* Focus
* Leadership

We use positive reinforcement to help build these skills. This reinforcement of good behavior helps build an excellent level of self confidence and self esteem in children of all ages.

Teens & Adults

We train our students to the best of their ability. Some students come to us in shape, while others are not. Most come to us with limited flexibility. Teens and adults start at any age and at any stage in their life. As a student, you are looked upon as an individual, never compared to anyone else. All that is expected is a willingness to try. Benefits you can expect from Taekwondo include:

Fitness: Taekwondo techniques are based on the design of your body. Power is developed from the larger muscles of the core and legs. Speed comes from the fast, agile muscles of the arms and legs. As you progress you will learn to coordinate speed and power. Flexibility trainin, balance and coordination will also improve.

Self Confidence: Even though it does not come naturally to many people, self confidence can be developed over a period of time. As you meet and accomplish new Taekwondo goals your confidence level increases. Taekwondo instills a sense of discipline and self-esteem that carries over to all aspects of your life.

Self-Defense: When the speed and power developed through Taekwondo is used in a self-defense situation against the vulnerable parts of an attacker's body, the result can be incredible. Taekwondo allows you to use natural physical strengths, such as power in the legs, while learning a method of self-defense efficient against a much larger opponent. Knowing you can defend yourself, your confidence will grow. Confidence alone is usually enough to deter potential attackers.
